My daughter wants to play (or have me play) a Jaw harp. (She's only five but likes the sound.) Now here's the rub-- I cannot STAND for metal to touch my teeth-- I absolutely HATE it, but Santa is supposed to brig one of these at Christmas apparently... To clarify, if I touch my teeth with a fork and the rest of a meal is basically ruined-- that bad... Just thinking about it makes me hurt as I type this... So with that said, is the harp touching the teeth part of the sound or is the mouth just a a cavity for resonance with these things? Is there any sort of a coating that would let this effect still work or are there alternative designs where the part that touches the teeth is something besides metal? I could probably deal with a rubber or plastic coating or parts of the same material entirely as well as wood or most anything apart from metal. Any suggestions or possible sources for alternatives? Thanks!
