Playing tunes from the British Isles, Nova Scotia, and Cajun tunes will always be a safe bet. Of course immigrants would bring tunes from their native lands, and keep playing them for generations in the USA. You can listen to "The Lark in the Clear Air" [OSS 13 CD] where the Wright brothers play several good tunes on the trump / Jew's harp. Google the net for "Lindsay Porteous" [Scots player].
